Kathmandu :<\/strong> The successful rescue of Chinese national Lu Haitao, who remained trapped inside a tunnel for nearly 10 days following the Bhote Koshi floods, has once again highlighted humanitarian cooperation between Nepal and China during times of disaster.<\/p>\n

Lu was rescued alive by a Nepali rescue team from the tunnel of the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project. He is currently undergoing treatment.<\/p>\n

While the rescue of the Chinese national was underway, China continued to expand its technical assistance to Nepal for rescue and relief operations. At the request of the Nepal government, China\u2019s Ministry of Emergency Management sent five technicians with expertise in tunnel rescue operations to Nepal.<\/p>\n

China subsequently delivered around 50 tonnes of emergency relief supplies to Nepal using two Y-20 military transport aircraft. More than 13,000 items, including tents, blankets, sleeping bags, food supplies and first-aid materials, were brought to Nepal.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s assistance was not limited to relief supplies. To strengthen search and rescue operations, it also provided drones, DNA testing equipment and water purification systems, among other equipment.<\/p>\n

China has also provided financial assistance to Nepal following the disaster, which is expected to support immediate relief and rehabilitation efforts.<\/p>\n

In the current disaster, Nepali rescue teams are working to save the lives of Chinese nationals, while China is supporting Nepal with rescue technology, technical experts, equipment, relief supplies and financial assistance.<\/p>\n

The Nepal-China rescue and relief cooperation has sent a clear message: when disasters have cross-border impacts, the response and humanitarian cooperation must also extend across borders.<\/p>\n

The recent successful rescue operations have also renewed hope in the ongoing search for people who may still be alive inside the tunnels.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
